A Polish technical university invented new non-linear optical materials with the use of sol-gel technology. The results
obtained show that such materials can find numerous applications in optoelectronic devices (second harmonic
generation, passive Q-switches or optical limiters). The university is interested in financing and technical co-operation.
A Scottish SME has developed a patent pending process in the formation of circuitry and interconnects through low-power
laser ablation of conductive inks and polymers. This allows the formation of circuit patterns at a significantly lower cost,
with significantly less effluent, on a variety of 2 and 3D substrates via a direct-write, mask-less process. The company
seeks materials partners or manufacturers of products such as PCBs, MP3 players, mobile telephones, and medical and
security devices.
A Catalan SME from the software industry has developed a tool to keep track of all of a companies daily management
issues and their projects costs until the creation of final bills. For application in organisations, this tool ensures good
project management. Its powerful data base motor allows users to make calculations using statistics in order to tell
clients an estimate of costs. The company is looking for partnering organisations to seek licensing agreements.
A Spanish SME has developed a small electronic device that, when introduced inside any differential switch, warns in sound
and light, periodically every month. This way, it acts as a reminder to press the switch test button in order to verify its good
working condition (as mandatory on EN 61008 standard), therefore, helping to keep electric installations safe. The system is
self-fed and it is electrically protected. The company is looking for a commercial agreement with technical assistance.
A Polish SME developed a new platform for enterprises. The system is built from separate modules, which allows adjusting
software to the company's needs. The system can be used either in Windows or Linux environment. The company is
interested in joint venture agreement, license agreement and technical co-operation.
A Hungarian SME offers an automatic SMS communicator, suitable for alarms to be triggered via cellular phones, for
security companies. Each alarm event related to any movement, opening, water, fire can be provided with a separate
cellular phone number, or upon request a single number can also be given, to receive all messages at this number. The
potential partners are security companies, as well as operators of valuable real estates and vehicles.
An institute of a German university specialised in surface treatment by low-pressure and atmospheric pressure microwave
plasmas has developed a large-area homogeneous plasma source easily scalable and adaptable to industrial requirements. This
plasma source offers a wide variety of combinable applications in surface treatment, i.e. coating, activation, functionalisation,
cleaning, and sterilisation. The institute is looking for industrial partners interested in technical co-operation.
A small Irish campus company has developed a CAD integrated software design tool for environmental compliance
suitable for the automotive & electronics industries. The tool supports design & data management for compliance with
environmental legislation. The company seeks license agreement, manufacturing agreement or commercial agreement
with ‘Product Lifecycle Management Companies’, CAD software developers, & automotive and electronic manufacturers to
test & validate the product.
A Swedish group of eleven SMEs with combined unique resources has developed a process for selection of high quality
surface treatment methods for the automotive, telecom and furniture industry including chrome 6-free processes,
chemical nickel, chromatin zinc alloy on aluminium, powder coating, pre-treatment such as zinc and zinc- manganese
phosphate etc. The group wishes to establish commercial/technical agreements with companies that can use these
methods for new and existing applications.
A Belgian company has developed a total solution for rapid prototyping of products with a very complex geometrical
design. Instead of classical CAD-models the technology uses facet models that can be generated automatically from
existing scanning technologies (like computer tomography), which renders this technology extremely fast and user-
friendly. The company is interested in license agreements and technical co-operation agreements aiming at exploiting new
application fields.
A Spanish research centre has developed a Laser 3D Digitiser, an automatic digitising system for 3D objects by means of
laser telemetry and a multiaxial movement system. This system allows acquisition of the geometry of different solid
objects by capturing points along the surface, in order to have a 3D digital image for use in CAD systems. The centre is
interested in a license agreement or a technical co-operation. They are also open to other types of co-operation.
The Mechanical Engineering department of the University of Basque Country has developed a bar joint suitable for adaptive
structures of variable geometry. The innovative joint fulfils exactly the theoretical position of each point of union of bars,
allowing their utilisation in robots, machine tools and other mechanisms that require a high degree of precision in their
movements. Manufacturer of mechanical equipment are being sought to exploit the existing know-how (license agreements).
A Belgian SME has developed a fingerprint identification module and software shell that can be used in different biometric
identification applications, including secure access control applications. The system can be used stand-alone and in
networks. The company is interested in license agreements, commercial agreements with technical assistance and
technological co-operation agreements aiming at integration with face recognition or other fast biometric identification
technologies.
A large Belgian call centre has developed a platform for wireless real-time monitoring of chronic patients. The data are
checked on sender identity and are stored in a database. A secured Web application allows further communication
between sender and receiver as well as analysis of the data. The company wants to act as an Application Service Provider
to manufacturers that want to provide online data storage for their devices and is interested in technical co-operation
and commercial agreements.
A company in Northern Ireland has developed software, to render any Web site "sound enabled" so that text is spoken at
the users PC without addition of any user software. The company is seeking partners for market development, joint
ventures, or licensing.
A Belgian SME developed an innovative instrument dedicated to frequency-selective measurement and monitoring of the
electromagnetic level generated by radio communication systems. It has been designed to be used by the non-specialist.
The user interface has been designed to offer instantaneous results that are easily interpreted. It can be used for people
exposure assessment but also for didactical and/or interactive purposes. Partners for commercial development, licensing
are of interest.
A German company has developed innovative software to manage cash registers and scales of companies with several
branches like retail chains or newspaper groups by one single program. Relevant data such as PLU (Price Look-up), price
changes, Mix & Match discounts, cashier's and customer's data of the individual branches deliver individual and total turnover
information and generate any desired report. The company seeks system vendors to adapt the software to local requirements.
