New Report: "5 years of excellence in the European Research Area
2007- 2011,
the case of Greece"
With the new report "5 years of excellence in the European Research Area 2007-2011,
the case of Greece" the National Documentation Centre (EKT) launched the series
of "Intelligence Reports". The new study-series aims to present metrics and data
produced as part of the activities that EKT undertakes as a National Contact Point for
the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7) of the
European Commission.
Addressing the need for open and transparent data which promotes research and
innovation, EKT has established the systematic publication of a series of intelligence
reports, studies, sciencemetrics and thematic editions. The present report aims to present
empirical data derived from institutional experience and expertise and contribute to the
process of mapping and understanding research activity in Greece.
The IDEAS Programme (European Research Council, ERC), commonly known as the
Programme of Excellence, has been recognized as the success story of FP7. The
Programme provides the focus for the first part of the series of "Intelligence Reports"
on FP7 - a valuable tool for the exploitation and analysis of data which emerges from
the implementation of the European projects in Greece. It focuses on the Greek case,
and displays findings indicative of the excellence of the Greek scientific and academic
community in the first five years of ERC.
Historein: EKT announces the journal’s new online edition
The National Documentation Centre (EKT) announces the electronic edition of Historein, a
significant peer reviewed journal in the world of history. Scientists, researchers and those
who have an interest in history, its theory and historical writing, can access more than 130
open articles in the field.
The launch of Historein’s electronic edition (www.historeinonline.org) marks a new era
for the journal, since from now on the publishing and editorial processes can be carried
out online. Its transition to open-access was implemented by EKT within the Operational
Programme "Digital Convergence" (NSFR) and the project "National Information System
for Research & Technology/Social Networks-User Generated Content".
EKT has provided services and software (Open Journal Systems) as well as expertise,
guidance, valuable advice and support. Ninemore journals have been published as a result
of EKT’s e-publishing activities. Readers can access the list of journals at
(
portal for the National Information System for Research and Technology), a rich digital
resource which provides open access to more than 4.5 million pages with e-publications,
digital repositories, digital libraries and studies related to research indicators in Greece.
Currently, EKT develops a fully integrated e-Publishing environment based on open
software, integrates peak technologies and applies international standards at all levels –
data organization, preservation and services. The list of EKT's e-Publications is continually
enriched to include new journal titles, e-books and conference e-Proceedings.
