A valuable resource of scientific knowledge,
the National Archive of Greek PhD theses, is
now accessible at http://phdtheses.ekt.gr. The
portal’s new edition encompasses advanced
functions for navigating and searching through
several thousands of PhD theses and provides
a series of additional services to registered us-
ers. The portal hosts the National Archive of
PhD theses (EADD), which provides access to
the PhD theses from all Higher Education In-
stitutions (HEIs) in Greece as well as PhD theses
awarded to Greek scholars by foreign HEIs and
certified by the Hellenic NARIC.
The National Documentation Centre of Greece
(EKT) is theorganization institutionallymandat-
ed for the collection, development andmainte-
nance of EADD. The principle of open access to
knowledge and research results lies at the heart
of the repository’s creation and development.
The repository of EADD contains more than
29,000 bibliographic records of PhD theses
(4,500,000 digitized pages) which have been
systematically documented. Today, users can
access the full text for more than 21,500 PhD
theses. The eHelpdesk supports users by re-
sponding to their online requests and provide
useful information and guidance
Highlights
A repository with rich educational
resources about Acropolis
The Repository with educational resourc-
es about Acropolis, which was recently
launched, is a new and valuable source of
information about Greece’s most significant
archaeological site, for educators, students
and the wider public. The repository was
developed by the EKT and contains mate-
rial collected by the Acropolis Restoration
Service. It includes photos, videos, publica-
tions, leaflets, students’ assignments, digital
applications and games, directories and
reports related to Acropolis and its monu-
ments. All content is thoroughly document-
ed and organized, and is made available
openly to everyone for search.
The repository is a modern source of
knowledge and information about the
most significant cultural and architectural
monument of Greek antiquity. Educational
material is addressed to students, educa-
tors, teachers, parents, and visitors who can
search for material of their interest accord-
ing to their profile and specific educational
needs. Teachers can find reference material
and prepare their students for classroom
study or a visit to the Acropolis and the
Acropolis Museum.

The National Documentation Centre of Greece
(EKT) has launched a study series based on
bibliometric analyses which produce estab-
lished and reliable indicators for research
activity in Greece. The study series "Greek Sci-
entific Publications: a Bibliometric Analysis of
Greek Publications in International Scientific
Journals" aims to identify the basic character-
istics of Greek scientific output and to explore
Greece’s position in the international scientific
landscape.
The study’s findings are presented with the use
of interactive charts and maps which illustrate
the results in a more comprehensible and user-
friendly way.
The latest study is based on data from the Sco-
pus Database. The presentation of indicators
from the two internationally established data-
bases (Web of Science: for the previous studies
of EKT, and Scopus: for the present study), serves
EKT's purpose of proving a fuller picture of sig-
nificant indicators that depict both the current
state and the evolution of Greece's scientific
production, and also increases the number of
Greek publications and scientific fields covered.
According to the new study, until 2010, the
number of Greek publications is continuously
growing. 2010 marks a small decline in the pub-
lications. However, the number of citations that
Greek publications received –the basis of bib-
liometric analyses- continued to increase and
Greece strengthened its international position
in terms of the impact, originality, quality, and
visibility of scientific publications. Bibliometric
indicators for this period were high, Greece’s po-
sition among EU and OECD countries was also
high, citation impact was growing and institu-
tional performance was improved.

A large number of Greek and foreign compa-
nies participated in the international business
meeting event held in the 12 March 2013, at
the premises of the NCSR "Demokritos", Athens,
supported by Enterprise Europe Network – Hel-
las, the largest network in Greece for competi-
tiveness and innovation support.
The event was an initiative of the Greek Gov-
ernment and the European Commission in
the framework of the two days event, entitled
"Europe 2020 Strategy for Growth: Promoting
Business Partnerships in Greece". The National
Documentation Centre (EKT), the Enterprise
Europe Network – Hellas coordinator, played
an active role in the event, contributing in the
participation enhancement of Greek SMEs and
research organizations.
The participation of the Greek and foreign com-
panies exceeded all forecasts, as more than 300
Greek and 110 foreign companies coming from
25 countries, performed more than 1,300 bilat-
eral meetings trying to identify opportunities
for commercial, technological or research col-
laborations, new clients, innovative technolo-
gies and products.
The participating companies represented the
following sectors: agrofood (22%), ICT (22%),
energy (18%), materials and key enabling tech-
nologies (17%), pharmaceutical and health
sciences (11%) and tourism (10%). The largest
delegations were coming from Germany, Italy,
Belgium, UK and Cyprus, followed by Austria,
Turkey, Poland and Bulgaria.
