An Italian research centre has developed, with other European partners, a gate to access services and pre-elaborated
information, databases and meta databases connected to new software tools (specialised LCA and re-engineering tool,
guidelines for specific product chain wood products, metalworking, textiles, office use, urban furniture and hotels) to
support SMEs in developing environmental innovation in the products. They are looking for partners to extend the use
and to implement it.
Researchers of a Spanish university developped a new system to maximize the coupling between a dielectric waveguide
and a photonic crystal waveguide. It is applicable to photonic circuits, for computer services, and in any technology based
on planar photonic crystals. They look for an agreement of technical cooperation for finishing the development of the
technology and the possibility to adapt it to meet new market needs.
A French research laboratory developed a technology that allows construction of integrated optical circuits inside an
organic matrix. Specific to photocrosslinkable material, it allows drawing the circuit itself inside the organic matrix, with
a 3D sub-micrometric spatial resolution. Waveguides can be drawn in a single step process and coupled directly to the
optic fibres connecting the device to the outside world. Industrial partners are sought for co-development or license
agreement.
An inventor group in Northern Germany has developed a device for reading deep micro barcodes. The device employs a
non-laser light source and the tested technology "optical coherence tomography". The micro barcodes can store a very
larges amount of data in a small space and offer unmanipulable, damage-protected data storage. The inventors are
interested in various types of collaboration with manufacturers and users of barcode technology to produce the device or
develop the technology further.
A Welsh university has developed a software layer that can be integrated into Location Based Systems to improve
reliability and accuracy when tracking a moving object. The software improves reliability of positioning by using local
information in conjunction with GPS satellite information to get an accurate position and is now being applied in the
military and transport sectors. This licensing opportunity may be of interest to a manufacturer, developer or distributor
of hand-held products.
A UK company has developed a web-based geographic cluster mapping technology with broad applications in commercial
& industrial markets. This novel system uses code modules to interpret information from an online database and convert
this data into a clear visualised geographic format that website visitors can easily understand. The technology is user
friendly, available at modest cost & easy to customise. The company is seeking commercial software or web solutions
partners.
An Italian SME working in the advertising area has patented a new technology that allows magnetic tapes to be recorded
and/or read manually. It is possible to record a sound message on a sheet of paper or other flat supports with extreme
immediacy, and to reproduce it just as easily after some time. The company is seeking to license or sell the patents,
providing technical assistance and training and is interested in finding a partner for technical co-operation.
An Italian SME has created a solution aiming at communicating via Internet and with any fast connection with
audiovisual and multimedia content. The system is accessible to deaf people too and is suitable either for the single user
or for large companies. The SME is interested in partnerships with companies and public administrations active in the
communication department interested in promotion, entertainment, distance learning or advertising with larger
marketing results and minimum efforts.
A German SME has developed a catalytic process for the liquefaction of dry organic matter. The process runs under mild
temperature (350 ÆC) and normal pressure. A wide variety of organics, including halogenated ones, yield liquid
hydrocarbons in the Diesel fuel boiling range. The company seeks partners from the environmental and renewable energy
sectors for technical co-operation in order to adapt and scale up the process to their local substrates and conditions.
A Polish SME offers a patented design of an aluminium telescopic mast for multi purpose mobile application
(telecommunication, lighting, illumination, advertisement). Innovative design allows to avoid technological problems
during production and to easily modify the product. Joint venture cooperation, manufacturing agreement or commercial
agreement is sought.
A Spanish research group has developed a new process for manufacturing metal pieces from metal powders and using
thermo-stable acrylic resins as a binder. This manufacturing process is easier than the traditional metal injection process.
The research group is looking for potential partners to establish licensing agreements.
A German company develops new materials applicable as functional layer. Coating of flexible materials using liquids,
mostly aqueous, containing binder and specific functional agents is their special business. After laying solutions on
material the solvents are reduced by hot air in an air-floating dryer. To lay solution on it is possible to use different kinds
of coaters, e.g. reverse roll coater, roll coater, knife coater, kiss coater. They are looking for partners requiring new
applications.
A Dutch company has developed a trans-ceramic coating for machine parts like hydraulic cylinders. This coating is
developed for non-lubricated machine parts with contact points under very high pressure. The company is interested in
the development phase of non-lubricated parts e.g. bushes, surfaces and sliding rods in machinery (engines).
A Scottish SME has developed highly sensitive devices that may be used to detect suicide bombers (shrapnel devices) and
car bombs. The company is looking to license its technology to businesses that will manufacture, promote and sell devices
based on the technology. The company is also willing to consider joint venture exploitation of their technology.
