An Irish company has developed a new submersible lamp, which can be used for fish farms and underwater exploration
and investigation. It uses a halogen bulb as opposed to halide. Increased health and safety: Halogen bulbs can be
operated on a range of voltages: Supply can be 12V up to 220/110V AC or DC. A licensing deal is sought with a company
capable of marketing and distribution.
A Spanish research group from the Department of Physiotherapy of the University of Alcala presents a new apparatus of
electrotherapy (electromedicine). This apparatus of interferential ultrasonic therapy simultaneously uses two
independent ultrasound transducers. Compared to traditional therapies the effects of this are deeper and there is a
greater resonance effect on the tissue, based on the quantum acoustic model. This research group is looking for
manufacturing and license agreements.
A small French biotechnology company, specialized in design, manufacture and use of biochips, has developed thematic
oligonucleotide chips and many others customised products. Advantages over conventional oligochips include their high
sensibility, reproducibility, detection specificity and their excellent stability. Currently they are interested in building
additional strategic partnerships to develop new diagnostic kits as well as new products dedicated to traceability and
control.
A French pharmaceutical laboratory has developed an innovative vial concept, offering a high security level to the user
(nurse and patient), and reducing the drug reconstitution/transfer labour time. Industrial partners interested in licence
agreement are sought.
A Hungarian small-scale company offers a manual inhalator to be used for salt therapy, designed for treatment of
allergy, asthma, nasal catarrh, bronchitis, rhinitis, irritations caused by smoking, and other chronic respiratory
diseases. The active ingredients of the salt mixture of appr. 50-60 grams are sufficient for 5 years. Potential co-
operation partners active in natural healing and/or medical device business are awaited.
Israeli researchers have discovered a novel method based on Fourier transform infrared microspectroscopy (FTIR-MSP)
for diagnosis and digital staging of pre-malignant and malignant human tissue, in particular colon tissue. The
researchers are looking for partners to collaborate on the completion of development of a marketable product, including
working together to develop an in-vivo fibre optic sensor, and to reduce the cost of the FTIR-microscope system for a
wide clinical application.
An Italian SME, with experience in the field of fermentation technologies, has developed a new Microbioreactor
characterised by high flexibility and level of control. Bioreactor MP3-C can be used in various fields of biotechnology:
Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, Oenology, Environmental, Milk and Dairy Farming, etc. The bioreactor can be
customised to suit more specific research needs. The company is seeking partners for commercial agreement with
technical assistance.
An Italian university department has developed a user-customisable method to forecast the risk of pest introduction.
Unlike available forecasting tools, managing datasets of one kind a time (climatic, pedologic, faunistic, etc.), the
method proposed, starting from a holistic approach, leads to a GIS covering the whole world, able to supply information
on population dynamic, mainly focusing on insect pests. The institute is interested in a commercial agreement with
technical consultancy/training.
A small Swedish company has developed a colostrum product, designed to counteract winter vomiting disease
(diarrhoea). Previous clinical studies have shown that the antibodies in colostrum can protect us from many bacteria
and virus causing stomach disorders. The product is designed for a special application and has no competitors. The
company is looking for a partner working in the functional food sector that is interested in designing/developing a
functional food application with the product.
A Swedish SME has developed methods for the identification of compounds that have the ability to modulate for
example, nuclear transport receptor biological interaction with NF-kappaB family. It will convey an ability to
specifically regulate gene expression and thereby facilitate broad therapeutic potential in the control of a myriad of
pahtophysiological disorders including inflammation, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease, angiogenesis, septic shock, AIDS etc.
A small German company offers millimetre wave radar for research on clouds, fog and precipitation, and monitoring of
cloud height/extension, visibility and extinction. It delivers profiles with fine resolution. The system is compact, low
cost, requiring no special infrastructure and has infinite lifetime. It can be operated from the air, connected to 28 V DC.
The company is looking for commercial/public partners interested in applications for the system.
A German company offers a patent covering a solution that makes it possible to always offer the cheapest tariff to
telephone clients. The core of this procedure is an ex-post calculation of fees. The procedure determines after the
connection which tariff would be the cheapest and uses this one. The company is interested in technical co-operation,
license agreements or commercial agreements with technical assistance with telecommunication companies, IT
providers, and strategic investors.
